We looked at the class of 2016 and 2014 ACT/Plan/Explore scores and what the average scores mean. Also, we began to look at the ACT Benchmark Score for Science (24) and started to look at where we need to go.
Points of frustration: how do we recreate complex experiments in the classroom based on time, facilities, and materials, unsure how to teach certain standards mainly ones that involve models, the juniors scores did not improve in science through their high school career.
To move forward we are going to focus on components of lab write ups and analysis.

What we are doing ...
We have changed the focus of our PLC to try to figure out what students actually know before we start a unit/course. We are hoping use data from ACT PLAN/Explore to pick an area of focus for instructional planning - interpreting/representing data, measurements, or some other area that works with our unit.

1. We discovered some new educational tools, saw people who were very passionate about improvement of instruction, and saw instructional tool used in new ways.
2. We learned what current research suggests that a collaboratively classroom actually is. We learned that many students, staff and administrators did not know how to utilize schoolloop fully.
3. We see the need for trainings via SLC or such for schoolloop and other educational items.

PLC Showcase
At the end of our semester of work, all PLCs will be showcasing their work at the Wyandotte High School PLC Showcase on Wednesday, December 12th in the Social Hall.
The showcase will be a public demonstration of our learning,
collaboration, and results. Each PLC will showcase work that reflects
how your learning and collaboration has impacted student learning. Each
PLC is encouraged to be creative and innovative in their demonstration
(student examples would be highly encouraged); however, please be sure
the following are addressed through your presentation -
